F1 Front Wing Design

Summary

The goal of this project was to develop Siemens NX surfacing skills and design a front wing that complies with the 2023 Formula One technical regulations. These aerodynamic features rely heavily on advanced surfacing techniques, and my design incorporates modified NACA profiles for the wing elements. I used X-Foil to analyze and modify these profiles for favorable pressure distribution on the wing surfaces. The wing endplates are curved to generate outwash and reduce drag further downstream on the car. Additionally, I completed parametric studies to improve the geometry, achieving a lift coefficient of -4.29 and a peak downforce of 1,800 N, based on SolidWorks CFD data.
